Chinese Export Silver
Chinese export silverwares generally refer to those made in China and exported to the West from the late 18th century to the mid, late 20th century. The craftsmanship of these exported silverwares was considered to exceed those of the European royal family at that time. However, those artifacts were very limited, and they were scattered all over the Western countries, so they were often perceived to be made in the West. It was not until 1975 that Chinese Export Silver 1785 to 1885 by Forbes, H.A. Crosby was published, the public realized that those products were from China. (This book is also featured in this auction)
Most of these exported silverwares were made in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China. Through new shipping routes and international trade, European merchants sold top-quality handmade-in-China goods to Western countries. The exported silverware of this period not only satisfied European and American aristocrats’ daily needs but also many traditional Chinese cultures were incorporated in the design, such as dragon patterns and auspicious character engravings, presenting a combination of Chinese and Western cultures. At this time, the craftsmanship of Chinese export silverwares have reached its peak in terms of quality and design.
This auction will feature Chinese export silverwares with historical value, most of which are engraved with the name of the silverware maker, proofing the trackable origins and first-class quality.

Meissen Porcelain
Meissen occupies a unique position amongst porcelain makers worldwide. As the oldest porcelain manufactory in Europe, founded in 1710 by King Augustus the Strong, the dining services, sculptures and objects created by Meissen have been trailblazing since the very beginning. The manufactory's worldwide renown is rooted in artisanal expertise and centuries of artistic tradition, beginning from Meissen’s Baroque period, which laid the foundation for a design language for European porcelain, iconic floral painting and the “Onion Pattern”, all the way to the new animal sculptures of the 1920s. In every era, the Meissen manufactory gave rise to some the most significant porcelain artists of the time, whose masterpieces both then and now are produced entirely by hand. Their works reflect not only the great variety of artistic epochs, but also the boundless creativity and curiosity that continues to stoke the creations in Meissen Triebischtal to this day.
